• Samsung Will Soon Allow Galaxy Fingerprint Reader to Unlock Any Windows 10 PC

Posted on February 22nd, 2017 admin No comments

As planned, Samsung is going to make its Flow Android app compatible with any Windows 10 PC. At first, Samsung introduced a Samsung Flow App for Android last year to unlock its Windows 10-powered Galaxy TabPro S, and users can use the fingerprint reader on a compatible Galaxy smartphone to directly unlock the Windows 10 tablet.

At the moment, Samsung Flow allows Galaxy Tab Pro S users to unlock their tablet with a compatible Galaxy smartphone’s fingerprint scanner. Here are the supported smartphones confirmed by Samsung: Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 edge, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy S6 edge+, Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy A5 (2016), and Galaxy A7 (2016).

The good news is Samsung plans to add support for all Windows 10 PCs, which will enable users to unlock their devices with any of the compatible Galaxy smartphones listed above.

The Korean company is planning to enable the feature With the Windows 10 Creators Update while Microsoft hasn’t officially announced a release date for the Creators Update. However, the Update is expected to arrive in April. Samsung was already using Microsoft’s Windows Hello Companion Device Framework to enable its fingerprint unlock, and it appears the company is simply expanding on that with the latest update to Windows 10.

  • LG G6 Won’t Be Featuring Snapdragon 835 Because of Samsung

Posted on February 4th, 2017 admin No comments

LG’s upcoming flagship G6 won’t be featuring Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 chipset due to the fact that Samsung bought out all the chips that there won’t be any left for the other companies, according to a recent report.

Ben Sin, a consumer tech writer for Forbes, recently criticized HTC for featuring Snapdragon 821 instead of the more powerful Snapdragon 835 in the year of 2017. But after digging deeper into that, he realized there’s a good reason for that.

    style=”display:inline-block;width:728px;height:90px”
    data-ad-client=”ca-pub-8877674303109942″
    data-ad-slot=”4123226464″>

“I’ve spoken to some industry insiders in Asia today and I must apologize to HTC, because it would appear that the 835 is out of their reach until after April, so they couldn’t have used the 835 without drastically delaying the phone,” Sin writes.

“In fact, that’s the case with almost all phones, including LG’s flagship. Yup, I have confirmed with an industry insider that the LG G6 will run on Snapdragon 821 instead of the 835 that everyone’s expecting.”

The reason why the G6 will be missing out on the Snapdragon 835 is that Samsung has first dibs on it because it’s basically the biggest customer for Qualcomm and the order from the Korean Company is so big that there won’t be enough for other vendors.

Big companies like LG, Sony and HTC won’t be able to have access to the Snapdragon 835 until after the official debut of the Galaxy S8 in the coming months.

This won’t be much of an issue for LG’s fans actually as LG’s done things like this before. The LG chose the Snapdragon 808 instead of the 810, but that’s mainly because of the concern of overheating rather than stock out.

From the latest leak we can see that the G6 would be featuring a USB-C port, headphone jack, a dual-camera arrangement and a rear-facing fingerprint sensor. And noticeably the device’s 5.7-inch display features virtually no bezel. All in all, the G6 is still a flagship worth expecting.

  • Samsung Officially Rolled Out Android 7.0 for Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge

Posted on January 19th, 2017 admin No comments

Samsung started soak testing Android 7.0 Nougat for Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge earlier this week. And now the official rollout has come to more users. And the company is also planning on rolling out Android 7.0 update to more devices within the first half of the year.

There are a lot of changes on the UI front, noticeably the Quick Panel is much cleaner now and looks a bit like what we saw on the Note 7. “Tiles have been removed from the icons in the panel’s first depth,” Samsung noted. “Icons in the second depth are organized into groups of nine, making them easier to locate. There’s also a new pop-up app mode that allows up to five pop-ups at once, in addition to split screen mode that Samsunt smartphones have had for years.

Samsung even gave the devices Performance Mode. “The newly added Performance Mode lets users optimize their smartphones to better meet their specific need by activating one of the four available modes,” Samsung said. “Optimized mode, for example, extends battery life and enhances speed, and is suitable for daily usage, while game mode provides users functions such as Game Launcher and Game Tools. Entertainment mode enhances sound and image quality and High Performance mode enables the highest quality display settings possible.”

Users should be able to receive the update now, but if the Samsung device you have isn’t unlocked, the update has to go through carriers which may cause delay of the update. There would be more updates coming for devices including Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy Tab A with S Pen, Galaxy Tab S2 (LTE unlock), Galaxy A3 and Galaxy A8.

Posted on January 18th, 2017 admin No comments

Cortana will soon be updated to be on the lockscreen on Android smartphones, according to MsPoweruser. Microsoft recently released a new update for Cortana for iOS and Android, which has a totally redisigned user interface.

According to MsPoweruser, the new version of Cortana would provide users with the option to enable Cortana on the lockscreen inside of the setup menu. “After that, a simple Cortana logo will show up near the bottom of your lock screen and you can swipe the logo left or right to open up the Cortana panel,” the website explained.

When you go to the splash screen, there would be information provided to you from Cortana, including things like the weather, upcoming appointments and other data that comes from the information you’ve provided in the Cortana Notebook on your phone or PC.

Microsoft has been planning to bring Cortana everywhere and this is just a small part of the plan. What we are really expecting from Microsoft is what Cortana can do around the house because currently the similiar home assistants we can think of are Google Home and Amazon Echo. But it’s good to know that Microsoft has a good start bringing Cortana to more places.

  • Samsung Expected to Launch Galaxy S8 in New York in April

Posted on December 20th, 2016 admin No comments

According to the latest reports from South Korea, Samsung is expected to hold the Galaxy S8 event in New York next April. The launch has been delayed reportedly/ Samsung has reported delayed the launch of its next-generation flagship to earn more time for regaining the trust of its fans from the ill-fated Note 7.

Traditionally, the launch of Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S Series would be at Mobile World Congress in late February, but this generation’s S phone means a lot more to Samsung and its fans than the previous generations do.

It doesn’t only have to be the best seller, the new Galaxy S8 need to rebuild the confidence of customers in Samsung, to let people know that the company is still able to make powerful and reliable smartphones that don’t have the major design flaws.

According to Naver, Samsung is in “consultation with external agencies” and planning to regain consumer confidence before the Galaxy S8’s arrival. And in order to make sure that there’s enough time to do that, the launch of Galaxy S8 has been postponed, the report claims.

Samsung is said to have said at its global strategy meeting in South Korea this week that the Galaxy S8 will have its dedicated launch even in New York in April. This further confirms previous reports claiming the delay of the launch of Samsung’s next generation flagship.

Samsung hasn’t confirmed any of this yet. Whether the launch will delay to April or not is still speculation for now. But the announcement of the S8 at Mobile World Congress is still unlikely.

One thing we learn from the Note 7 is that always back up your phone because you never know if your phone is going to blow up at some point in the future. This can apply to not only phones from Samsung, other phones blowing up is not something we haven’t heard of.
